    Shri Jayant Sinha

    Jayant Sinha (born 21 April 1963 in Giridih, (then in undivided Bihar, now in Jharkhand) is the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, a Member of Indian Parliament and formerly the Minister of State for Finance. He has also been an investment fund manager and management consultant.

    In May 2014, he was elected to the Lok Sabha, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.

    Sinha’s prior business experience includes twelve years with McKinsey & Company as a partner in the Boston and Delhi offices. At McKinsey, Sinha co-led the global Software and IT Services practice. He was most recently a partner at Omidyar Network (ON), an investment firm with over $730 million in invested capital. Sinha led ON’s overall investment strategy and operations in India. He also spent several years as a Managing Director at Courage Capital, a global special situations hedge fund.

    Sinha holds an M.B.A. with Distinction from the Harvard Business School, an M.S. in Energy Management & Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Technology degree with Distinction from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

Mr. Sidharath Kapur is a tank holder chartered accountant and a company secretary and has extensive experience of over 28 years of financial management in financial services and corporate finance with various sectors including financial services, oil and gas and infrastructure. In his role, Mr Kapur oversees the various airports in the GMR Group and also handles the business development activities including bidding for new airports.

His previous employers include Citibank and Reckitt & Colman, where he was promoted to the executive committee. During his tenure, he expanded the company’s business across 15 new international markets.

    Post his stint with the corporate world, Mr. Premnarayen followed his entrepreneurial aspirations and launched his own business which handled the export of jewellery and precious stones. His company was instrumental in bringing prestigious luxury brands to India. Later, he entered the infrastructure sector through multiple international partnerships.

    Mr. Premnarayen is on the board of FirstRand Limited, which is the leading financial services group
    in Africa listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. He is actively associated with the group and is a member of FirstRand’s Directors’ Affairs and Governance Committee and the Chairman of FirstRand Bank India Advisory Board.
    A board member of TATA International and its Audit Committee, the other Directorships held by him include TATA Africa Holdings (SA) Proprietary Ltd., Triangle Real Estate India Fund LLC, a FDI compliant fund for India raised in conjunction with Old Mutual Property in South Africa (listed on the Mauritius Stock Exchange) and Noida Toll Bridge Co. Ltd. (listed in India & AIMS in UK). He also serves as an Additional Director (Independent) on the board of Nicco Parks & Resorts Limited.

    Through its various businesses, ICS Group is involved in executing projects across cities in India and Africa and employs over 2600 people. The Group is headquartered in Mumbai with offices in Delhi, Bangalore and Johannesburg.

    Memberships – Mr. Premnarayen is currently the President of IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry for 2016-17 as well as a Committee member of All India Management Association (AIMA) for 2016-17. He is also the Convenor of the India-South Africa CEOs forum and Chair of CII National Committee on Nordic countries. Apart from these, he is a member of CII’s National Council and Committees for Banking, Public Policy, Financial Inclusion and Services and Task Force on Employment Generation and CII International Council 2016-17. He has led CII’s business delegations to Libya, Norway and Sweden in 2014 and to South Africa in 2015.

    Social Responsibility – A firm believer in giving back to society, Mr. Premnarayen is actively associated with:
    • Miraclefeet, an NGO based out of New York, USA. Miraclefeet is working towards eradicating disability as a result of children being born with clubfoot. The organisation works across 14 countries in the developing world and is supported by Google, Bajaj Foundation and the Oak Foundation amongst others.

    The Premnarayen Education Trust was created to help underprivileged children have easy access to education.

    In June 2014, Mr. Premnarayen was conferred the ‘Indian Business Leader of the Year’ award by ‘Horasis Global India Business Meet’ at Liverpool, UK.

    A keen golfer, Mr. Premnarayen is also an avid sportsman and a yoga enthusiast.

    Mr. Jatin Aneja is a Partner at the Firm and heads the national projects and infrastructure practice for Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. He has extensive experience in project and project finance related transactions in the energy (conventional and renewable,) roads, ports, airports, railways, power, and oil and gas sector in India.

    Jatin has been involved in advising various Indian as well as multi-national companies on commercial law aspects, including drafting, structuring and negotiating various joint venture agreements, shareholder agreements, business purchase agreements, share purchase agreements, financing agreements, EPC contracts, consortium agreements, and other related legal advisory work.
    Jatin has advised on a series of award winning transactions in the oil and gas field, including the gas sale and purchase as well as the gas transportation arrangements in relation to the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline project and the Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline project, which was awarded the Energy Deal of the Year by Asian Lawyer (ALM Emerging Markets Awards 2014). Another prominent matter included the Videocon Mauritius Energy Limited’s indirect sale of its participating interest in the Rovuma oil block in Mozambique, to ONGC Videsh Limited and Oil India Limited, which was awarded the Global M&A Deal of the Year (Africa) at the Global Legal Awards, 2014, and Indian Oil’s long term LNG sale and purchase agreements from the United States, which was awarded the IBLJ’s India Deals of the Year 2014. Jatin has also advised with regard to the Petronet LNG (Dahej Re-gasification Project) deal, which was awarded the Infrastructure Super Deal of the Year 2005 by the Asia Legal Business.

    Jatin has also advised on Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partner’s investment in Isolux Corsán Concesiones which was declared as the Infrastructure Deal of the Year at the IFLR India Law Awards for 2012. Jatin has also advised on the financing for Cairn India which was awarded the Project Finance Deal of the Year 2010 by IFLR. Among other acknowledgments, Jatin has been recognized to be leading a brilliant team of lawyers.

    the PPP model post the new Electricity legislation. The Anpara ‘C’ project is today considered as one of the most successful PPP projects in the power sector and the structure set in place formed the basis of India’s Ultra Mega power projects. Jatin has also contributed significantly in establishing some of India’s biggest energy projects. Apart from advising on the first LNG Re-gasification Project in India, he has also been involved in the LNG sale and purchase transaction with Iran.

    Junaid Kamal Ahmad

    Junaid Ahmad is the Country Director for the World Bank in India. He joined the World Bank’s Delhi office on 1 September 2016.

    Junaid, a Bangladeshi national, was formerly the Chief of Staff to World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim. He joined the World Bank in 1991 as a Young Professional and worked on infrastructure development in Africa and Eastern Europe. He has since held several management positions, leading the Bank’s program in diverse regions including Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, as well as in India and South Asia.

    Prior to joining the President’s office in January 2016, Junaid was the Senior Director for the Water Global Practice, a position he held since the creation of the Global Practices in July 2014. In this role, Junaid has built a strong and collaborative Global Practice and has brought a strong track record of management and leadership in the area of service delivery and international partnerships, combining intellectual and analytical rigor with strategic operational focus. Junaid has championed the Practice’s focus on water and the economy, and emphasized institutions and resilience in water management.

    Junaid spent 10 years in the field, first as the Deputy Resident Representative and Principal Economist in Johannesburg, and then as Regional Team Leader of the Water and Sanitation Program in New Delhi. In 2004, he was a team member of the World Development Report (WDR): Making Services Work for Poor People. From 2004-2008, he was the Sector Manager for Social Development in South Asia Region and subsequently for Urban Water & Sanitation before taking on the latter responsibility for the Africa Region in 2010. He was also the Director for Sustainable Development in the Middle East and North Africa Region, a position he held from 2012-2014.

    He holds a PhD in Applied Economics from Stanford University, an MPA from Harvard University, and a BA in Economics from Brown University.

    Mr. Rajeev Jain, Chief Executive Officer, is associated with the company from the first day of taking over of CSI airport by Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd., a Public Private Partnership with GVK leading the consortium of private parties.

    During his tenure CSI Airport has undergone transformation by virtue of commissioning of new terminal, substantial improvement in airside capacity and by offering best of service. CSI Airport is proud to handle highest number of passengers in the world with only one main runway. During FY 15-16 passengers throughput was 41.67 million and is likely to exceed 45 million passengers during current financial year.

    Mr. Jain has wide-ranging experience of working in the infrastructure sector by virtue of working with leading steel, telecom and aluminum corporations before joining MIAL. His expertise lies in general management, driving operational efficiency, cost reduction, and solving complex issues.

    By qualification Mr. Jain is fellow member of various institutes viz., the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK.

    The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India had conferred CA Business Leader –Corporate award to Mr. Jain in 2015. He has also been conferred with a ‘Distinguished Fellowship’ by the Institute of Directors, India.

Manish has advised MMRDA, MSRDC, MCGM, BEST on several key infrastructure projects in Mumbai, such as the Mumbai Trans HarbourLink and Water transport project. He also serves on the Infrastructure Committee of Mumbai First.     Arvind Mayaram has a PhD in Finance and is a Certified PPP Specialist. He was earlier the Finance Secretary of India. He has been the Alternate Governor of India on the Board of World Bank, ADB and African Development Bank. He was India’s finance deputy in G20 and BRICS. He was also on the Board of the Reserve Bank of India and the Securities Exchanges Board of India. He was India’s chief negotiator for BRICS New Development Bank and co-chair of the Framework Working Group of G-20.

    In the Indian State of Rajasthan he worked, in addition to several other assignments, as Investment Commissioner, Secretary Industries & Commerce and Tourism Secretary. He has also had experience of senior management positions in several public sector enterprises.

    He has been instrumental in several major initiatives in the area of investment, infrastructure development, Public Private Partnerships and institution building. He spearheaded the establishment of the framework for mainstreaming PPPs in India and accelerated the process of including newer areas for PPPs. He has worked extensively in the field of infrastructure finance. He also designed the first PPP module for delivering infrastructure in the rural areas deftly combining infrastructure asset creation and delivery of services with private investment in economic activities and skill development for the poor and an integrated education and skill certification programme for school dropouts.

    He was Vice President of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), formed under the aegis of UNCTAD, UNIDO, FIAS and MIGA for two terms in early 2000. He has been an investment promotion expert with the UNCTAD for several years and his expertise in the area of PPPs is internationally acknowledged. He has undertaken a large number of missions for the UN agencies in several developing countries such as Sudan, South Africa, Fiji, Ecuador, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Cambodia etc. and has led several foreign economic negotiations on behalf of the Government of India at sub-cabinet level strategic economic dialogues with countries such as the USA, China, the UK, Japan and South Korea.

    He is an institution builder. He was one of the founder members of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), a multilateral organisation. In addition to many other important initiatives in building institutions, he conceived of the unique public private partnership structure for Project Development Company of Rajasthan (PDCOR) and National Skill Development Corporation and the National Skill Development Trust, the foundation stones of the National Skill Development Mission in India.

He is a UK Qualified lawyer with over 20 years of practice and is a specialist in infrastructure, construction and PPP projects and has advised on many major projects in transport, health, education, defence, accommodation and energy in Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and Africa.

    He is a member of the UNECE Business Advisory Board, Head of the UN’s PPP Readiness Task Force (set up to give practical aid and advice to countries in their PPP implementation programmes), is an associate expert in PPP Capacity Building with the United Nations Development Programme. He has assisted the United Nations Economic and Social Commission in drafting its Transport PPP Guidance documentation and Co-authored the UNECE Guide to Promoting Good Governance in Public Private Partnerships. He has recently carried out feasibility studies for PPP implementation in Mongolia and Uzbekistan at the request of the Mongolian and Uzbek Governments and worked with USAID and the Mongolian State Property Committee to develop PPP Capacity and documentation as part of USAID’s Economic Policy Reform and Competitiveness Project. He has also worked on a World Bank Project for PPP training of Government Officials in PPP in India.

    Mr. Smith has lectured extensively on PPP related topics and has worked with UNDP, United Nations Economic and Social Commission Asia Pacific, U.N.E.C.E , the Moscow School of Economics, the World Bank, USAID, and Asia Development Bank in the Asia Pacific region and  Eastern Europe developing PPP Capacity Building and drafting standard guidance and contract documentation.

During his 12-year stint at YES BANK, Tushar’s work has cut across multiple sectors with emphasis on Institutional Innovation and Social Equity in growth models.

    His sectoral areas of interest encompass Infrastructure, Agribusiness & Agri-Infrastructure, Tourism, Education, Sports, Governance, Energy, Mining and Sustainable Development. Tushar has been a part of Indo-Canada Mining Committee, Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, and has completed several infrastructure assignments including those in India, Philippines and Mozambique across various sectors including roads and railways.

    Since 2004, Dr. Al Hasani has been working as a senior economist at the Dubai Economic Council (DEC), the think tank of the Government of Dubai/ UAE in th5e economic-policy making. He conducted dozens of working papers and surveys in various economic issues. He has also developed a number of critical initiatives and policy recommendations. Since 2009, Al Hasani has been acting as an economic editor-in-chief at the DEC.

    Before joining the DEC, Dr. Al Hasani worked as an academic in a number of universities. He has also collaborated as a trainer.

    Al Hasani has partaken as a panellist and moderator in a number of local, regional and international conferences in various issues particularly Public-Private Partnership (PPP): Canada, UK, Qatar, Australia and Dubai. He has been named by Queensland authorities in Australia as an international expert in PPP.

    Al Hasani published several papers in referred and non-referred journals, and one book entitled “International Finance”. His research interests cover a wide range of topics, importantly: PPP, international economic relations, economic development, and oil markets.

    Irfan has published hundreds of articles in local newspapers. Additionally, he has been frequently invited as an economic expert in a number of business TV interviews.

    Al Hasani collaborated as a referee for various research and academic institutions, most recently Al Owais Creativity Award, Rashid Bin Humaid Award for Culture and Science, among others.

    During his career, Al Hasani received numerous awards and certificates. In 2008, he was the “Third Prize Winner of the Dubai Economic Research Award (DERA), the most prestigious empirical analysis-based research comes under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Finance. The winning paper entitled “PPP Policies and Their Applicability to Dubai”, has been presented at the Canadian Economic Association Annual Conference. In 2002, he has been selected as ‘the best research project’ from the Arab Society for Economic Research at Cairo (Egypt) to conduct a study on “The Political Economy of International financial crises and their Implications to GCC Markets”.

    Dr Vasudevan (Vasu) is a Director in the Infrastructure, Government & Healthcare practice in KPMG. He is also the Global Lead of Airports and handles business development and advisory work for major international airport clients.
    Vasu brings with him more than 16 years of advisory experience with private and public sector clients on infrastructure PPP transactions. He has also advised State and Central governments on policy and regulatory matters in the transport sector.

    Vasu led the teams that successfully advised the Maharashtra and Goa governments to close the Greenfield airport concessions in Navi Mumbai and Goa. He is also advising the Government of Andhra Pradesh in selecting a joint venture partner for developing the Bhogapuram International airport near Vizag and other regional airport projects.

    He is also working closely with airport authorities in Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Vietnam, Bhutan and Oman on prospective airport redevelopment projects and transport PPP transactions.
